Ambazonian Community Leader in Cyprus Detained: A Call for Justice

Today, the Ambazonian community in Cyprus stood united in a peaceful protest, raising their voices in the heart of Nicosia at 10:00 AM, in pursuit of justice and freedom. The protest, conducted in a calm and orderly manner, was a passionate plea for the release of our Ambazonian President in Cyprus, Mokwe Bernard Etongwe, who has been unjustly detained.

Mr. Bernard, the Ambazonian President in Cyprus, is known to be a loving father and loyal immigrant in Cyprus for the past 15 years without any criminal records in the island.

On the 10th of September, 2024, Mokwe Bernard Etongwe was detained at his residence by Cypriot authorities on allegations of living illegally on the island since 2009. This shocking news has shaken the Ambazonian community, both in Cyprus and worldwide. We believe in justice and fairness, and the unlawful detention of our president stands against the very principles of international law, human rights, and the dignity of individuals seeking refuge.

The peaceful protest, held outside the Deputy Ministry for Migration and International Protection, was our collective effort to draw attention to the plight of our president and urge his immediate release. During the protest, a representative from the ministry came out to listen to our pleas. This gesture, though small, gave us hope that our voices were heard and that action would follow.

Our community remains committed to a peaceful resolution, and we hope that today’s protest will help accelerate the release of President Mokwe Bernard Etongwe. His detention is not just a violation of his rights but a blow to our collective pursuit of freedom and justice for the Ambazonian people.

We call on the Cypriot authorities to act swiftly and release our president. The Ambazonian people are peace-loving, resilient, and determined. We trust that justice will prevail.

Let us continue to stand together, with hope in our hearts, until freedom is restored.
